Professional Awards

Every year WACAC looks to recognize those in our respective fields who may be going above and beyond the call of duty. We need YOU to take a few quick minutes to fill out our short online nomination for the professionals that you feel are doing a stellar job in serving the needs of students.

We have three awards to present each spring at our state conference.

WACAC High School Counseling Professional of the Year

The High School Counseling Professional of the Year honors high school employees that exemplify excellence and dedication to serving the needs of students in the transition from high school to college.

Eligibility: Individuals receiving the High School Counseling Professional of the Year nomination must be working to foster new initiatives and programs to help students’ transitions to post-secondary education. It is not necessary that the individual be a member of WACAC.

WACAC Admission Professional of the Year

The Admission Professional of the Year honors college/university admission professionals who exemplify excellence and dedication to serving the needs of students in the transition from high school to college.

Eligibility: Individuals receiving the Admission Professional of the Year nomination must be working to foster new initiatives and programs to help students’ transitions to post-secondary education. It is not necessary that the individual be a member of WACAC.

WACAC Rising Star

The Rising Star Award honors individuals and programs that exemplify excellence and dedication to serving the needs of students in the transition from high school to college.

Eligibility: Individuals receiving a Rising Star Award nomination must be professional members of WACAC for no more than five years. They must be people who are striving to make a difference within WACAC through their work in committees and the profession. Programs receiving a Rising Star Award nomination must be new programs within the last five years that utilize nontraditional approaches to traditional challenges. The programs must be practical and replicable by other members of WACAC.
